SunStone Holdings was founded in 2021 in Funchal, in the Portuguese island of Madeira. As the vessels of SunStone Maritime Group transfer to Madeira, SunStone Holdings oversees commercial and strategic management of the vessels. The companies in Madeira currently employ 24 people and is continuously expanding.

The company's history in Miami, Florida, in the United States goes back to 1990, with the former management company, International Shipping Partners. In connection with the sale of ISP in 2012, SunStone Ships was formed to retain the commercial management, vessel ownership, and newbuilding projects from ISP. Today, SunStone Ships is responsible for the commercial and administrative management of the Bahamian flagged vessels of SunStone Maritime Group.

SunStone Ship Management facilitates the technical management of any SunStone vessels managed in-house, and is the liaison to third-party technical and hotel managers of the SunStone fleet. Additionally, SunStone Ship Management is overseeing the construction of the SunStone newbuilds.
